Не было до них европейцев, которые повидали бы так много чужих стран. От родной Скандинавии викинги совершили плавание на восток по великим рекам России и дошли, переплыв Черное и Каспийское моря, до Константинополя и Багдада. На западе освоили все побережье Западной Европы, основав колонии в Шотландии, Англии, Ирландии и Франции. Вторгались они и в Средиземноморье, высаживаясь на берегах Италии и Северной Африки. А параллельно с этим пересекли Атлантику, по пути заложив поселения на Фарерах, в Исландии и Гренландии, и стали первыми, насколько мы сегодня знаем, европейцами, ступившими на землю Северной Америки. Именно эти далекие путешествия и отвага первопроходцев привлекают наше внимание к викингам спустя столько веков.

В разные времена к ним относились по-разному. Главными летописцами средневековой Европы были монахи, а поскольку они часто становились жертвами викингов, то много писали о чинившихся ими грабежах, разорении городов и захвате пленников (не особо распространяясь об изнасилованиях, видимо, потому, что для них, мужчин, хотя бы в этом смысле викинги не представляли опасности). Дикими варварами, сродни вандалам и готам, разграбившим античный Рим, норманны оставались до XIX в., когда наступила эпоха национального романтизма. Именно тогда средневековый образ викингов – непобедимых морских разбойников – получил новую трактовку. Превратившись в европейское захолустье, скандинавские королевства утратили влияние на международной арене и не принимали участия в построении империй, которым занялись Великобритания и Франция. В результате у скандинавов возникло непреодолимое искушение обратиться к героической эпохе, когда они правили миром. Именно тогда смысл слова «викинг» изменился. Средневековые авторы, используя его, подразумевали всякого, кто занимается морским грабежом, то есть пирата, и вовсе не обязательно скандинавского. Считается, что этимологически «викинг» – это «человек из бухты», возможно, потому, что именно в бухтах разбойники прятались, подстерегая торговые суда. Однако под влиянием национального романтизма слово «викинги» стало синонимом «скандинавов раннего Средневековья», и такое употребление закрепилось. Тогда же викингов «оснастили» варварскими рогатыми шлемами, что выглядит романтично, однако исторически недостоверно (заблуждение родилось из-за неверной атрибуции шлемов бронзового века как викингских). И эти шлемы также закрепились в массовом сознании.

Во второй половине ХХ в. этот воинственный образ подвергся пересмотру. Археологи обнаружили, что у викингов были и мирные занятия – ремесла, торговля, географические исследования, колонизация, – что позволило лучше представить образ жизни этих людей. Вместе с тем возникла тенденция преуменьшать их жестокость, считая описания монахов-хронистов преувеличением. Отчасти это было гиперреакцией на устоявшееся представление, но, кроме того, после двух кровопролитных мировых войн ни завоевания, ни строительство империй больше не казались европейцам героическими деяниями. И все же эпоха викингов была полна насилия: их торговля питалась военными трофеями, особенно пленниками, а основанию мирных колоний предшествовали кровавые завоевания. В англоговорящем мире эпоху викингов принято отсчитывать примерно от 793 г. (разграбление Линдисфарна) и заканчивать 1066 г. (битва при Стэмфорд-Бридж), но история не столь скрупулезна. В Скандинавии и Балтии эпоха викингов началась на добрую сотню лет раньше и в ряде отношений длилась еще на век дольше. На островах Шотландии последнее упоминаемое хрониками нападение норманнов произошло в 1240 г. В исландских и гренландских колониях государственные структуры и общественные институты эпохи викингов жили еще в XIII в. Викинги не явились ниоткуда, и закат их цивилизации был долгим.

🇺🇸🇸🇦 США и Саудовская Аравия нанесли совместные удары по Ираку.

Это стало частью региональной эскалации с Ираном. Эр-Рияд уже несколько раз обвинял проиранские военизированные группировки в Ираке в использовании дронов для обстрела саудовской нефтянки. Попросив помощь у Штатов, они решились на военный ответ.

Авиаудары наносили по южной части Ирака, где предположительно расположены опорные пункты проиранских фракций, объединенных в коалиции "Силы народной мобилизации" (PMF). 20 их бойцов погибли в результате бомбардировок, 32 были ранены.

Сами PMF отрицают свою причастность к обстрелам саудовской территории, и говорят, что удары наносили хуситы (которые свою причастность уже давно признали), и назвали действия саудитов и американцев опасной эскалацией.

Зачем Саудии бить по группировкам, которые могли и вовсе не наносить удары по ее территории?

Во-первых, мы не знаем, участвовали ли они в обстрелах или нет. Они говорят, что нет. Минобороны Саудии говорит, что да. Кому верить — неизвестно. Вполне возможно, что отдельные ячейки PMF могли пытаться запускать дроны со своей стороны. PMF разные, и единой позиции по поводу участия в войне на стороне Ирана у них нет.

Во-вторых, в четверг в Эр-Рияд прилетает премьер-министр Ирака Али аз-Зайди, и будет говорить о двустороннем партнерстве, больших проектах, инвестициях, совместной безопасности и энергетической системе. Саудовская Аравия уже давно настаивает на том, чтобы официальный Багдад сделал что-то со своими проиранскими группировками, в идеале — разоружить эти карманные армии. В Багдаде опасаются вспышки насилия и гражданской войны, но публично обязались это сделать. Авиаудары могут быть предупреждением Багдаду не ввязываться в войну на стороне Ирана, а также сигналом к действию против проиранских сил.

В-третьих, в самом Ираке хватает сторонников ослабления проиранских и шиитских сил (которых можно обвинить в работе на Иран) в пользу суннитско-курдского лагеря, тяготеющего к Саудовской Аравии и ОАЭ. Ключевая проблема Багдада — разрыв между Ираном, США и Саудовской Аравией, которые часто используют Ирак как арену для сведения счетов. Центральные власти ослаблены, и не могут установить монополию на насилие, что обостряет внутреннюю борьбу за власть.

День ФРС. Ротация из техов продолжается

Вторник завершился заметным переходом денег из технологического сектора в более защитные компании. Сентябрьский фьючерс на S&P 500 закрылся около 7465, Nasdaq 100 около 27 922, а Dow около 52 944. За день YM прибавил примерно 1.1%, тогда как NQ потерял около 1%. Утром в среду ES торгуется возле 7480, NQ около 27 900, YM около 52 980. Главное давление снова пришлось на производителей полупроводников.

Индекс отрасли потерял 4.5% и уже примерно на четверть отступил от июньского максимума. Инвесторы продолжают сомневаться, оправдают ли себя огромные расходы на центры обработки данных и ИИ. При этом деньги переходили в здравоохранение, товары повседневного спроса и сырьевые компании. Coca-Cola выросла на 5% после повышения годового прогноза, Boeing на 4.8% благодаря положительному свободному денежному потоку.

Нефть во вторник заметно подешевела: Brent потеряла 4.8% и закрылась около $84.09. Однако утром ситуация снова изменилась. После ударов США и Саудовской Аравии по связанным с Ираном группам в Ираке и сообщения о перехваченной иранской атаке Brent вернулась к $87. Золото держится немного выше 4000, доходность 10-леток около 4.62%, EUR/USD около 1.1395.

Инвесторы будут смотреть на рост облачного бизнеса и рекламы, а также на расходы на ИИ. До вечера рынок может оставаться осторожным, но после решения ФРС и отчётов технологических гигантов движения могут стать резкими.
