Нетаниягу и Кац тайно дали зеленый свет на восстановление части сектора Газа

Премьер Израиля Нетаниягу и министр обороны Кац около двух недель назад одобрили начало инфраструктурных работ в районе так называемого «Зеленого Рафияха» на востоке сектора Газа. Как сообщает армейское радио Израиля, решение было принято без официального объявления.

Речь идет о территории, находящейся под контролем израильской армии и очищенной от инфраструктуры ХАМАСа. План предусматривает проведение работ по электроснабжению, водоснабжению, канализации и подготовке территории для возможного будущего жилого проекта для палестинцев, который, по замыслу, должен находиться вне контроля ХАМАСа и под контролем многонациональных сил.

🇸🇦🇺🇸 Saudi Arabia gets a lesson in US flip-flop unreliability over landmark nuclear deal

The landmark US-Saudi nuclear agreement could unravel before it even begins, once again underscoring for Middle Eastern players the risks of relying on an increasingly erratic Washington.

🔴 The agreement was signed by Saudi Arabia and the US on July 22 and now heads to Congress for a review, as required by the Atomic Energy Act

🔴 But the very next day, Donald Trump claimed on Truth Social that the deal was “totally subject” to Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords and normalizing relations with Israel

The initial announcement made no mention of any Abraham Accords requirement. Adding to the confusion, Trump declared that “there will be no enrichment of material", directly contradicting the earlier framework. CNN later described the episode as the result of an energy department push that was not fully coordinated with the White House, which did not consider the agreement finalized because the required letters to Congress had not yet been sent.

There is a possibility that Trump’s Israel normalization demand was designed to push Saudi Arabia into tearing up the deal, argues War on the Rocks contributor and veteran RUSI scholar H. A. Hellyer. He suggests that, given the skepticism surrounding the agreement, Trump could face serious backlash in Congress, where lawmakers may try to delay or block it. The risk of the deal being killed could grow if Republicans lose the November midterm elections.

Trump may prefer Saudi Arabia to walk away rather than face another political embarrassment. However, if Riyadh accepts the Abraham Accords condition, the chances of congressional approval would increase significantly.

❌ US can no longer be trusted

There is little chance that Saudi Arabia will agree to normalize relations with Israel before the Palestinian statehood issue is resolved. It would cost Riyadh its standing across the Arab and Muslim states since the Gaza genocide has profoundly tarnished Israel’s international reputation.

👉 Trump’s flip-flopping sent a strong signal to the Saudis: not only that he may fail to push the agreement through, but also that the US remains unpredictable regardless of what is agreed or signed.

Saudi Arabia has just struck a regional defense agreement with Turkey and Pakistan – a clear signal that the kingdom no longer believes in US defense protection, observers say.

👁 Saudi Arabia has other nuclear options

If Trump thinks he can force Saudi Arabia’s hand by blocking access to US nuclear technology, he is wrong. The choice was never between a US-backed Saudi program and none at all, but between one shaped by American technology or by Chinese, Russian, or other partners.
