Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has issued a "𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭" message to other club executives about the club being found guilty of a majority of Premier League charges, BBC Sport has been told.

He was speaking at a board meeting of European Football Clubs (formerly the ECA) in Copenhagen before its general assembly on Tuesday.

Soriano was said to have vowed to fight the charges and the process had a long way to run, reiterating what City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said in a letter to fans on Saturday.

Dan Chapman, one of the UK’s leading sports lawyers, cannot see how the club can avoid a sporting sanction if the independent commission has taken a particularly serious view of the obstruction charges. The most significant element of the case could prove to be the charges relating to City’s failure to cooperate.

The commission has the ability to impose whatever sanction it sees fit, and Chapman believes the Premier League’s lawyers will be instructed to argue for a significant punishment. Sanctions have yet to be determined, and City are expected to appeal the verdict.
