➼ शशि शेखर वेम्पति को पुनर्गठित केंद्रीय फिल्म प्रमाणन बोर्ड (CBFC) का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है। Shashi Shekhar Vempati has been appointed as the Chairperson of the reconstituted Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

➼ प्रीता वर्मा ने बिहार की पहली महिला प्रभारी पुलिस महानिदेशक (DGP) के रूप में पदभार संभाला है। Preeta Verma has taken charge as the first woman acting Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar.

🇵🇰 Pakistan braces for PTI long march as Khan’s health deteriorates in jail

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) — the party founded by Imran Khan — is preparing a nationwide protest on September 27 to demand his release. The party plans a “long march” to Islamabad, with convoys from the provinces converging on the capital.

Authorities are tightening security. The Islamabad High Court ruled that no party or leader has the right to block roads, highways, or government buildings, and directed provincial chief ministers to prevent the use of state machinery, funds, or official vehicles for the protest. Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — PTI’s support base — gave a written warning to disperse any unlawful actions by protesters. In Punjab, more than 100 PTI activists have been detained under preventative detention orders, and an anti-terrorism court ordered the passports of 24 party leaders blocked, including Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

👉 Islamabad authorities have requested 23,500 additional police personnel, expected by September 20, alongside over 1,000 shipping containers at entry points. The Punjab government has banned gatherings of more than five people until September 17.

Imran Khan’s health remains critical. On August 18, the Supreme Court ordered that the former Prime Minister be transferred to the private Shifa International Hospital for an independent examination, but authorities instead sent him to the government-run PIMS hospital on the night of August 20–21, citing security concerns. His sister Aleema Khan says his health has worsened in jail: after he was moved to solitary confinement in October 2023, he began losing vision.

Khan served as prime minister from 2018 to 2022. He was arrested in 2023 and is currently serving a 14-year sentence for the Al-Qadir Trust case — a corruption case in which he and his wife were found guilty of receiving land worth up to $25 million in exchange for helping a business tycoon. Khan denies all the charges.
