During his absence, Vice-President Kashim Shettima represented him at some official engagements and travelled to New York to represent Nigeria at the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Tinubu’s prolonged absence from the country has also sparked debate over the constitutional provisions governing presidential powers when the president is away for an extended period.

Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution provides that a president proceeding on vacation should transmit a written declaration to the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, after which the vice-president performs the president’s functions in an acting capacity.

However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said there is no vacancy in Aso Rock, maintaining that Tinubu remains in charge of the country’s affairs despite his absence.

Nigerians worried, lose appetite as Pres. Tinubu Postpones Return Again following an undisclosed last-minute change

President Bola Tinubu has postponed his planned return to Nigeria following a last-minute change to his travel plans, with his arrival now expected on Tuesday.

Tinubu was initially scheduled to return this weekend after spending several weeks in Europe on what the presidency described as a working vacation. The reason for the latest change to his itinerary has not been disclosed.

The president left Nigeria on August 30 for London as part of his annual leave before travelling to Paris, France, where he held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré.

The presidency had earlier announced that Tinubu would return to Nigeria at the weekend after extending his stay abroad by a few days. He was expected to arrive in Lagos and spend up to a week there before travelling to Abuja.

“Jesus Christ is not a political candidate, a campaign slogan or a weapon to advance one politician against another. His name is sacred and should not be dragged into partisan contests in ways that elevate human beings, however popular or admired, to a place that belongs to God alone.”

He said Nigerians could support or criticise Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu or any other candidate without compromising their reverence for Christ.

“We are free to support Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu or any other candidate. We are equally free to criticise them. But our political loyalty must never become so intense that we begin to speak of politicians in terms that diminish the reverence due to Christ,” he said.

Okoh urged Nigerians to focus on competence, character, policies and performance.

He added: “No politician is the Messiah. No political party represents the salvation of the human spirit that Christ epitomises. And no electoral victory is worth compromising the honour due to His name.”

“As we approach another crucial electoral season, I urge politicians, their supporters and all Nigerians to conduct our political conversations with responsibility, restraint and respect for what we hold sacred,” he said.

2027: No Party Will Win The Presidential Election In FCT Except APC— FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike Declares.

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said no political party will win president Tinubu in the Federal Capital Territory in the 2027 election, while highlighting his administration’s efforts to increase revenue and execute projects in the nation’s capital.

Wike said he assumed office when the FCT was generating about N6 billion to N7 billion monthly but had increased it significantly

“I came when the revenue we were making was about six, seven billion naira a month. So, you see, it’s not by shouting. Today, by our own hard work, we improved revenue to not less than 35, 40 billion naira every month,” he said.

He explained that the increased revenue was being channelled into priority projects, adding that he had mapped out projects and directed the Treasurer to allocate funds accordingly.
