Cricket statistics on Telegram: check the format, denominator and date
Read player records, strike rates and bowling figures critically. Learn why missing formats, samples and time windows make cricket graphics misleading.
Guide reviewed . Channel measurements and public preview dates are shown separately.
Before sharing a record, ask: which format, which competition, which period and how many innings? A large number with a missing denominator is an incomplete comparison.
Write the scope next to the number
International T20s, all T20s and IPL matches are different populations. So are league-stage matches and playoffs. A graphic saying “fastest” needs the event being timed, the minimum threshold and the eligible competition. Check whether an asterisk marks an unbeaten innings rather than a footnote.
Compare like with like
Batting strike rate expresses runs per 100 balls faced. A short burst and a full season can have the same rate with very different sample sizes. Bowling economy uses runs conceded per over; overs notation must first be converted to legal balls. Keep venue, phase and sample size visible when making a more specific comparison.
| Look for | What to check |
|---|---|
| Record claim | Format, competition and minimum qualification. |
| Batting rate | Runs and balls faced, plus the innings sample. |
| Bowling rate | Runs conceded and legal balls, with match context. |
| Head-to-head | Matches counted, cutoff and treatment of no-results. |
Save the cutoff
Records change as matches finish. A post needs a cutoff date and a reproducible source or scorecard trail. The channels below describe statistics as part of their coverage, but TGScope has not audited every published number. Use them to discover a claim, then reconstruct its scope.
Put it into practice
- Name the population before comparing values.
- Keep counts beside rates.
- Check whether a later match changes the record.

A preview can be incomplete or stale. Different sample windows do not measure comparable posts per day. Subscriber counts are historical; adding them does not produce unique audience.
Questions before you follow
Can I compare T20I and IPL records directly?
Only after making the different populations explicit. Do not present an all-T20 number as an IPL-only record.
Is a high view count evidence that a statistic is correct?
No. Views measure exposure to a post, not the calculation or its underlying scorecards.
