As a result, the gunners won the trophy, reaching the Champions League final at the same time and losing there on penalties to PSG.
If you look at it in aggregate, you can see obvious progress with Artet: finally, the team began to win titles. In the new season, Arsenal will again be a formidable force in the Premier League. Judging by the composition, the gunners have a very decent hole, which definitely did not weaken during the pre-season period.

Manchester City appears to us as a more unpredictable team, given the serious reshuffles in the summer. To begin with, let's note Guardiola's departure from the post of head coach - the importance of a Spanish specialist is difficult to overestimate. He was replaced by Enzo Maresca, who is stylistically quite similar, although it is clear that it will be a completely different team. At the same time, we saw a large number of transfers, from the latter we will highlight the departure of Reynders - it seemed that he would become the main midfielder, but in the end the club breaks up with him.
It is impossible to draw any adequate conclusions on friendly matches: Manchester City coped with Atletico Madrid with a score of 3:1 in the extreme match. Last season, the citizens took second place, behind Arsenal, and in the Champions League they flew out of Real Madrid. A distance is needed to evaluate Mareska's work. So far, we have a very unpredictable team.
Summation
This is the first official match of the season for both teams, so you can't say anything confidently - you need a distance to draw certain conclusions. I suggest considering a rather straightforward option: Arsenal will take the trophy. I'll try to justify my choice. In my opinion, the gunners have undergone a minimum of changes in the pre-season, they have preserved the head coach and almost the whole backbone, the composition was rather just point-enhanced.
In the case of Manchester City, everything is far from unambiguous - it's a completely different club, and I think that the citizens will need some time to adapt. The gunners have the same line as last year. In my opinion, Arsenal is a much more close-knit team right now, and today in my eyes they are like favorites.
