Real Madrid could give Kylian Mbappé a major BOOST in the Ballon d’Or race, with the club having a long history of publicly supporting its leading candidates.
As per L’Equipe, the strategy is simple: in the weeks before the ceremony, important figures throughout the club repeatedly make the case that their player DESERVES to win.
One of the clearest examples came in 2013, when Alfredo Di Stéfano, Emilio Butragueño, Carlo Ancelotti, Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos all publicly backed Cristiano Ronaldo for the award.
Ronaldo eventually beat Franck Ribéry, who did NOT receive the same level of public support from Bayern Munich, where Arjen Robben was also a candidate.
Now, Mbappé could benefit from that same Real Madrid support in the 2026 Ballon d’Or race.
