Russia Cannot Confront NATO, But Europe Needs Willpower — Podolyak

In recent weeks, Russia has been intensifying provocations and acts of sabotage in European countries, raising the stakes. Threats about seizing European capitals within two or three days are coming from the Kremlin. Yet Russia lacks the strength and resources for a real war with NATO. Adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak expressed this view.

"Russia definitely won't be able to confront NATO. If NATO, of course, is prepared for this in terms of willpower. That's the key point here. Technologically, through engineering solutions, high-tech solutions, and military decisions, Europe is, of course, head and shoulders above Russia, even without the United States. But in terms of willpower, readiness for such a bloody conflict, Europe is definitely nowhere near Russia — even more so with Russia after five years of war in Ukraine," he noted.

RIGHT. As a noun, and taken in an abstract sense, justice, ethical correctness, or consonance with the rules of law or the principles of morals. In this signification it answers to one meaning of the Latin "jus," and serves to indicate law in the abstract, considered as the foundation of all rights, or the complex of underlying moral principles which impart the character of justice to all positive law, or give it an ethical content.

As a noun, and taken in a concrete sense, a power, privilege, faculty, or demand, inherent in one person and incident upon another. "Rights" are defined generally as "powers of free action." And the primal rights pertaining to men are undoubtedly enjoyed by human beings purely as such, being grounded in personality, and existing antecedently to their recognition by positive law.

But leaving the abstract moral sphere, and giving to the term a juristic content, a "right" is well defined as "a capacity residing in one man of controlling, with the assent and assistance of the state, the actions of others." Holl. Jur. 69.

E a volte la persona che diventi dopo che qualcosa si è spezzato non avrebbe mai potuto esistere prima che accadesse. Ma ecco la parte che spesso la gente fraintende: crescere non significa che tutto ciò che ti è successo dovesse per forza accadere. E di certo non significa che te lo meritassi. Forse la vita non è una storia con un copione perfetto. Forse ti è stato dato il palcoscenico, ma non il copione. È qui che entra in gioco il libero arbitrio. Le circostanze possono plasmare chi sei, ma ciò che ne fai dipende ancora da te. Puoi diventare amareggiato, oppure puoi diventare più saggio. Puoi chiudere il tuo cuore, oppure imparare a proteggerlo senza perderlo. Puoi lasciare che il tuo passato ti definisca, oppure lasciare che ti insegni qualcosa. Forse è questo il vero significato di un “contratto dell’anima”: non “accetto tutto ciò che mi accadrà”, ma “accetto di vivere questa esperienza”. E qualunque cosa accada al suo interno, sarò io a decidere chi diventerò.
