How to find who owns a Telegram channel

Telegram never shows who runs a channel, but many owners publish a contact for ads or questions. 18.3% of public channels with 10K+ subscribers list a contact that also appears on at least one other channel, and 9.2% share one with five or more. Follow that contact and you find the rest of the network.

Check a channel

Paste a username or t.me link and see every other channel in our catalog that lists the same contact, with their audience.

What you can and cannot find

Hidden: the list of admins, the account that created the channel, phone numbers. Telegram shows admins only to other admins.

Public: whatever the owner chooses to show. The description often has an @username “for ads” or “for questions”, a linked discussion chat, a website or other channels “from the same team”. Posts may carry the author's signature if the owner turned signatures on.

That public contact is the thread to pull. Owners and ad managers tend to list the same contact on every channel they handle, so channels that share it are connected: run by the same people or sold through the same manager.

How big owner networks get

Public contacts listed by more than one channel, by how many channels list them.

Most shared contacts link just two to four channels. But 435 contacts appear on 20 or more channels, and the largest single contact is listed on 361.

Where networks are common

Networks are a regional habit. In Russia 18.2% of channels with 10K+ subscribers share a contact with five or more others; in India it is 1.9%.

What our data shows
  • French movie channels are the most networked group we found: 69.6% share a contact with five or more channels.
  • Russian job channels follow at 53.9%, and Russian news channels at 33.2%.
  • Indian education channels almost never share a contact with five or more others (1.3%), while Iranian ones do it 16.5% of the time.

Why it matters

If you are buying an ad, a network means one seller controls several of the channels you are comparing, and often cross-promotes between them, so their audiences overlap. If you are checking a source, a network shows you everything else the same people publish. Combine it with channel age and real reach for a fuller picture.

Questions

Can you see who owns a Telegram channel?

Not directly. Telegram shows channel admins only to other admins, and only if the owner chose to sign posts does a name appear on them. What you can see is what the owner publishes: a contact in the description, a linked chat, a website.

How do I find other channels run by the same admin?

Take the contact from the channel description, usually an @username for ads or support, and look for other channels that list the same one. Our network checker does this across our catalog in one step.

Is the contact in the description always the owner?

No. It is often an ad manager or agency that sells placements for many owners. Channels that share it are linked by business, not necessarily by ownership.

Is it legal to look this up?

Everything here is information channel owners publish themselves. We do not show phone numbers, personal accounts behind channels or any data Telegram keeps private.

Methodology

Contacts are @usernames and links that channels publish in their own descriptions, collected April–June 2026; bots and the channel's own name are left out. A network is every channel listing the same contact. Shares are for 138,671 public channels with 10K+ subscribers, adult channels excluded; country and topic are labelled automatically from channel content, and channels labelled “international” are not in the country tables. Groups with fewer than 150 channels are not shown. More on networks in our network study.
