Telegram channel map: questions and answers

Short answers about the TGScope map of 3 million Telegram channels. For the details, see how the map is built and how to read it.

How many channels are on the map?

3 million public Telegram channels from the TGScope catalog. Each one is a dot.

Is the map free?

Yes. It opens in the browser without sign-up, and so do the channel pages it links to.

Why can’t I find a channel?

Search by its subject rather than its name: the map search matches meaning. If that fails, the channel may be private, may have no topics or description to place it by, or may have been added after the current version was built. Our regular channel search finds every catalog channel by name.

Why is a channel next to channels about something else?

Its position comes from its public profile. A channel whose description talks about one thing while it posts about another lands where its profile points. The same happens when the topics or the category were read wrong from a very short profile.

Do the axes mean anything?

No. Only closeness matters: nearby channels are similar. Left, right, up and down carry no meaning, and a large distance does not mean “opposite”.

Is the map built from reposts or mentions?

No. Neighbours are channels about the same subject, read from their profiles. Two channels can sit side by side without ever linking to each other.

How often is the map updated?

The layout is computed once per version. The current one is built from the 10 October 2026 snapshot. New channels appear with the next version; subscriber counts on channel cards and channel pages are always current.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Drag to move and pinch to zoom. The map needs a browser with WebGL 2, which every current phone and desktop browser supports.

Can I download the map data?

No. The dots that reach your browser carry no names or usernames, and channel names are sent only for the area you are looking at. That keeps the map fast and the catalog ours.

Can I link to a place on the map?

Yes. The page address holds the centre, the zoom and the search query, so a copied link opens the same view for anyone.
