What Telegram is about: the largest regions of the channel map

Movies / anime is the largest region of the TGScope map: 7.6% of the 3 million Telegram channels on it, according to the 10 October 2026 version. Here are the 23 largest regions, what language they speak, how many big channels they hold and what sits next to them.

Which subjects take the most space?

The three largest regions are Movies / anime (7.6%), Ukraine / war (7.1%) and Fashion / clothing (6.2%). Regions are areas of the map cut by position and named after their most typical topics, so a region is a neighbourhood of similar channels, not a category. Click a region to open the map there.

Where are the big channels?

In the crypto / trading region 6.9% of channels have 100K+ subscribers, more than anywhere else on the map; VPN / tech (4%) and Ukraine / war (3.8%) follow. At the other end, only 0.5% of channels in Islam / Quran and 0.8% in fashion / beauty are that big: these subjects are run by many small channels rather than a few giants.

Five of the ten largest channels on the whole map belong to crypto games and apps. The largest dots are:

What sits next to what?

Neighbours show how Telegram's subjects blend. Crypto / trading borders betting / gambling and gaming / streaming: tap-to-earn games, betting and crypto sit side by side. VPN / tech, where Telegram's own channels and proxy channels live, sits next to betting / gambling and gaming / streaming. Islam / Quran borders Islam / spirituality and faith / Christianity, so faith channels form one continent across religions.

Which languages form islands of their own?

The most single-language region is personal / lifestyle (87.2% Russian). Looking at all 250 topic areas, Chinese, Russian, Arabic and Persian channels mostly live among their own: more than half sit in areas where their language is the majority. Uzbek channels are 5.3% of the map, but only 16% of them sit in Uzbek-majority areas. Ukrainian-language channels never form a majority anywhere: 50.2% of them are in areas where most channels write in Russian.

Share of each language's channels that sit in topic areas where 60%+ of channels write in that language. English is left out: labels never mark English.

How these numbers were made
  • All shares are counted over the dots of the 10 October 2026 version of the map: 3 million public channels.
  • Each channel belongs to the region whose centre is nearest to it on the map. Region names are the map's own labels. How labels are made.
  • Language and category come from the channel profile and are assigned by a language model.
