Russian websites down after the Yandex Cloud outage: Telegram alternatives
In four days in October 2026 drones hit three Yandex data centers, and Yandex Cloud, one of Russia’s largest cloud platforms, went into emergency mode. Property listings, marketplaces, grocery and food delivery apps went down with it. Telegram kept working: for each site below we list its own channel and the 1,944 channels that cover the same need.

What happened
- Oct 8, 2026. A drone strike started a fire at the Yandex data center in Sasovo, Ryazan region. The site was shut down and one of Yandex Cloud’s availability zones went offline.
- Oct 9, 2026. Several modules of the Yandex data center in Kaluga were disabled after a strike. Yandex arranged for cloud customers to move to other Russian providers.
- Oct 10, 2026. Yandex Cloud switched to manual allocation of computing quotas; new resources beyond existing limits were frozen.
- Oct 11, 2026. A night strike shut down the Vladimir data center completely. Yandex Cloud went into emergency mode, and Yandex’s own services and many sites built on its cloud stopped working.
- Oct 12, 2026. Complaints were falling and services were coming back, but several sites still returned errors in our checks.

Some services that failed do something a channel cannot replace, so they have no page here:
- Salebot, chatbot builder: said its servers in Yandex Cloud were hit and the service was down.
- Ivideon, cloud video surveillance: blamed the Yandex data center accident.
- Urent, scooter rental: served from Yandex Cloud; not responding in our checks.

Before you trust a channel
Outages bring out copycats: channels with a brand’s name that ask you to “re-enter” card details or a login code. A brand’s real channel never asks for either. Which Russian websites went down because of the Yandex Cloud outage?
Between 8 and 12 October 2026 users reported outages at Cian, Auto.ru, Yandex Market, Lamoda, M.Video, Magnit, Pyaterochka and Lenta, Dodo Pizza, Pulkovo Airport, Sravni, among others. Dodo Pizza and Salebot said directly that their cloud provider was the cause; for most others the timing matched the outage.
Is Yandex Cloud down right now?
We do not monitor Yandex Cloud live. As of 12 October 2026 it was running in a limited mode after three of its data centers were hit, and Yandex recommended that customers prepare to run outside its cloud.
Why use Telegram when a website is down?
Telegram runs on its own infrastructure, so channels keep posting when a Russian site is down. Brands post service updates in their own channels, and independent channels cover the same needs: listings, deals, delivery and flights.

Outages are taken from company statements, news reports and user complaint trackers, and from our own checks of each site between 8 and 12 October 2026. Where a company did not name the cause, we say only that the site was down while Yandex Cloud was. Channels were found by meaning and by name in our catalog of public channels; data to 2026-09-04.
