How to test whether a Telegram proxy works
No single green light proves that a proxy works for you. A good test goes from cheap to conclusive: check the link, let Telegram test the server, then confirm that new messages and media actually arrive.

What each test proves
- Link check: the link is complete and well formed. It does not contact the server.
- Check Status and ping: the server answered your device. It does not prove that media will load.
- A new message and a photo arriving: the proxy works for you, on this network, now.
- Our list: the server passed a full MTProto handshake from our checker at the time shown. It can still be blocked on your network.
Check it step by step
- Paste the link into the proxy link checker.
It decodes server, port and secret without contacting the server, and tells you whether the same proxy is in our live list.
- Open the link in Telegram and press Check Status.
Telegram connects to the server to measure the ping. The proxy owner can see your IP address during this test.
- Connect and open a chat with recent activity.
If new messages arrive, the proxy carries Telegram traffic. Then open a photo or video to judge the speed.
- Repeat the test on your other network.
A proxy that works on Wi-Fi can fail on mobile data: works on one network only.

Questions
Is a high ping a bad sign?
Only compared with other servers on the same network. Use the ping to compare, then confirm with real media.
Why does Telegram warn me before Check Status?
The test makes your device contact the proxy server directly, so its owner sees your IP address. The warning lets you skip the test for proxies you do not trust.
Can I test a proxy without Telegram?
You can check the link’s format with our checker. Whether the server answers from your network can only be tested from your network.
